The DW Design Series Pancake Drum is a great addition to any drum set. While it may not have the super lows of a gong bass drum, it still functions in a similar way and provides a visually pleasing addition to your set. The drum does not come with hardware to convert it into a kick drum, but the necessary hardware is available separately. Keep in mind that this drum does not sound like an actual gong, but rather like a bass drum with no muffling. Customers have had positive experiences with this drum, praising its low sound and the quality of its Construction. Some customers recommend using the recommended DW stand or bracket, as it may not fit on a Tama tom bracket. The installation of the mounting bracket is important, as it should be tightened securely to avoid any rattling sound.
