These tools are substantial gouges that can be resharpened many times and last longer than usual. The length of these tools is 10 inches, and the overall length from handle to top of the blade is 4 11/16 inches. They are not as good as Pfeil Swiss made, but they are one-fourth of their price. Also, they do not come with a mallet, but the Wood is Good mallet is suitable for these tools. One of the gouges is shallow, but one of them is not flat. These tools are sharp when they arrive and balanced for both hand and mallet carving. On the downside, the edge of the tools may curl back or dull after using them on hardwood like Mesquite.
