The ESI 130 Self-Powered Timing Light is a versatile and reliable tool for timing engines. It does not show rpm or ignition timing, but it is compatible with MSD ignition boxes and can work with two-stroke outboard motors. The unit's light may not be very bright in bright light conditions. The pickup may fit over Taylor Pro 409 10.4mm plug wires, but it is recommended to contact the manufacturer for confirmation. The red LED light indicates battery power, so make sure to use good D-cell batteries. It can work with MSD ready to use distributors, but silicone shielding on some industrial engine wires may require sliding it back to sense the ignition pulses. The ESI 130 is battery operated and can be used on 6, 12, or 24 V systems. It should work on V8 motors as long as the correct wire is identified and fresh batteries are used.
